Beth Shalom Sunday School 2021: Information

Dear Beth Shalom Parents,

Welcome to Experiential Jewish Learning

Happy 2021! I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer break. While it may feel early to be thinking about going back to Sunday school, I want to make sure you all have the updated information and dates for your calendars.

First, I am happy to share that we have adjusted the Sunday school programming to reflect the feedback we have had from families, and I think you will all be happy with the new format.

This year Sunday school will begin on Sunday, the 14th of February.

Beth Shalom Schedule:

9.30- 10.30am Session 1

Hebrew -Kita Gimmel- Daled upstairs
Hebrew -Bar/ Bat Mitzva - Learning to lead the service, upstairs.
Activities - Kita Aleph- Bet – Drama, Cooking, & Craft Classes – Hall.

10.30-11am Tefillot & Morning Tea

11am-12noon Session 2

Hebrew- Kita Aleph- Bet upstairs.
Activities- Kita Gimmel – Daled and Bar/Bat Mitzva – Drama, Cooking & Craft classes in the Hall.

12-12.30pm Finish up projects & Presentations.

Experiential Learning at Beth Shalom means that we are going to learn together through participation and hands-on activities. This is an opportunity for our students to apply what they have been taught. An example for our Sunday school is our plan for a Purim play taught by drama teacher. We also plan to create masks and costumes while we listen and learn the story of Purim. Plans for this year also include making a film about Jewish history and cooking Jewish food with a professional baker.

Our goal is to make a fun and educational Jewish Sunday morning experience for everyone, I hope I can count on your commitment and participation to make this a success.

A schedule is attached with dates for the first half of the school year. Please remember to contact me at 027 765 3677 if your child will not be attending.

*Additional information on adult programing and parent participation will follow in a separate email
