The UPJ is promoting a life-saving fund-raising effort organised by Project Rozana, a unique organisation creating peace pathways for Israelis and Palestinians through health.
It only has one agenda, without regard to politics, national identity, gender, sexual orientation or religious belief. This is to provide the Palestinian community with the best training and treatment available in Israel, so that Palestinian society can build its own institutional capacity, to provide world-first healthcare for its people.
This well-respected international non-profit organisation, seeks to raise funds to provide ventilators and ICU units in light of the critical spike of COVID-19 cases in the region. To give a sense of the urgency, between 1 March and 14 June 2020, there were registered 493 cases and 3 deaths in the West Bank; since 15 June there have been over 6,123 new cases and 33 deaths in the same area. This escalation threatens to overwhelm Palestinian hospital ICUs.
The Project Rozana initiative is one of the rare examples of co-operation between Israel and the Palestinian Authority during this politically strained time. We are encouraging congregants of the UPJ to send in multiples of “chai” ($18) to help support both health and peace in the region. To help click here.
